Glenwood School In Lockdown Wolf At Playgound
Dec 1st, 2007 by admin
You need to get in touch with some of the parents of kids that go to Glenwood school. Brandi Jump told me today, that the school was on lock-down yesterday (11-29-07) because there was a wolf within 17 yards of the playground! She said they’d taken a “cast” of the track/s, but were pretty sure that’s what it was…….
They’re trying to get some of the parents rousted for the meeting in Glenwood on
12-5……..maybe we could help out, if you can get this info to your contacts!

another one of those non existant uncollared wolves.
This is so unsafe. I wonder when parents in non rural areas will figure out that this would not be ok in their community so why are they forcing these wolves on us in our communitites.
The wolf - apparently VERY habituated - was around/in Glenwood for several days before the sighting in town. It was spotted south of town, and then I heard it howling a couple of nights later. Then, 2 or 3 days later, it showed up right in town, behind the Trading Post, and headed for the school. I strongly suggest that EVERYONE attend the meeting in Glenwood on Wednesday, Dec. 5th, at the Glenwood Community Center (next to the Library), from 5 to 9 PM, and raise holy hell. I also strongly suggest that the Catron County Sheriff be put on notice that if ANYONE is injured by these “wolves”, we expect the officials responsible for administering this outrageous “program” to be arrested and charged to the fullest extent possible.
When a child is brutally and savagely killed by their fluffy and cute wolfie they adore so much, maybe, just maybe, some of these wack jobs will stop and re-examine their own thought process about the wolfie. I only hope it is their child and not one of ours when this event finally occurs, and do not doubt for one second that it will not occur, because it will happen. Rural folk must be ever vigilant so as to avoid this tragedy, do not ever let your guard down. other than that the school is now a cage just like the environmentalists want. Us in cages and their pets running wild.
I live in Otero County, New Mexico. We are facing a wolf release program in our county. Your blog and the comments on it are very helpful and revealing in regards to the reality of people living with the release of wolves in their area. Please feel free to contact me with any information you feel is vital to this subject. I am attending a meeting, tomorrow night, with residents and the Fish and Wildlife Service. I’m against the wolf release program in our county.
Please visit our blog in Otero County. The wolf release issue is but one of the several issues we focus on for our local residents.

This is just so typical. We have a tiny vocal bunch of elitist, extremists with masters and PFD’s so they get to play with the lives of small rural citizens becuase they don’t have the means to defend themselves.
Has anyone out there ever given any thought that the people who live in that area on the ground can’t even toy with the idea that these wolves aren’t dangerous to humans?
Look at that video, at what those wolves are doing to the cattle, and even pet dogs? Does anyone out there really believe the parents in this region should be un-concerned for their kids?
All it takes is once.
I live in Lake Roberts. 3 adult wolves were in my yard at 8 am on the 28th. They were less than 100ft from my office window and due to terrain (slope upwards) were 2 actually watching me through my window as I worked. One was sitting down staring at me. The other was sniffing around.
Otero County beware. Your people will be soon experiencing just what is being shown on this blog.
This program and the mismanagers have put all of us at risk. While kids are at a greater risk all that was between me and these wolves was some 2×6 framing and a window. I did not feel safe. There was a primal trigger that went off in my head that this these were wolves and danger!
I think all the old stories and little red riding hood was right. I feel since the managers have mislead us on what the wolves would actually do and how they would manage them and have not…they have now exposed themselves to civil law suits.
If human or even a dog was to do the things that these wolves are doing it would be considered illegal. The human would be locked up or charged with stalking and the dog would be shot.
There was a woman in Colorado mauled to death by pet wolves. These wolves knew this woman - she fed them regularly when their owners were away, but she was mauled to death anyway. If well-fed wolves that depend on humans for feed will do this, why wouldn’t a “wild” wolf? When this happend, there was a call to eliminate pet wolves in the state. Some people answered it and had their wolves euthanized or sent to “rescues”. I bet I know where some of those “rescue” wolves ended up!
That wolf should be hunted down and killed by the authorities immediately. It would be an unconscionable injustice to wait until someone is attacked.
The threat is a crime. Threatening children is illegal, whether the threatened actions are carried out or not. Implanting fear in children (and teachers and parents) in this predator-in-the-yard manner is not tolerable in civilized society.
Yes kill it!!! there is only one reason it was hangin by the school, to observe the new kind of sheep he had discovered and to eat one.
I’m sorry, but the lot of you seem to be complaining because wolves are actually coming back to what should have been their habitat to begin with. Think about it - human society has been encroaching on wildlife territory for ages and the animals are now venturing into rural and urban settings because they have no where left to go.
For the guy that had them in his yard, what danger was there? In all honesty, you were never in any danger. They were sniffing around, and one was just sitting. Those wolves were doing no harm. A wolf is like any dog, if it feels threatened it is going to defend itself. they can sense our fear, and that fear puts them on edge.
Granted the release program may not be going exactly according to plan, but when you release an animal it has to get a feel for it’s location, to know what the surroundings are and it can only do that by exploring the area. They have to learn what boundaries are safe for them, yet also safe for us. A cow is prey, it looks like a good meal. That wolf probably doesn’t care about the difference that the cow belonged to a farmer or if it was a wild cow. Prey is prey to them.
Wolves play an important part in our ecosystem, and for them to do their part they have to actually be out there in the ecosystem. Think about Yellow Stone - the habitat of Yellow Stone has improved since wolves were released there, the elk and moose are under control and the trees that were decimated have started to come back.
It is ignorance that causes the problems. Instead of throwing a fit about the wolves being released back into these habitats, try learning about wolves and their part to play. Would I worry about my kids, sure, but I worry about them every day; but it is also my job as a parent to teach them everything they could ever know about wildlife, preserving wildlife, and living beside wildlife so that both they and the animals thrived! They do it in Alaska everyday!
My final words, Educate yourselves before you do something stupid!
FWS should not let elitists force their environmental agenda on itself then go out and install a program ahead of the unfinished scientific studies FWS was performing. The Yellowstone tree issue and habitat issue has always been a lie and will always be a lie. As you suggest perhaps invironmental groups should educate themselves and study all the logistics of that study before attempting it. Oh flip, I guess they did, it is the rewilding of America plan. It is agenda 21 of the U.N. Charter. And I quote the great Edward Abbey-Deep Ecology for the 21st Century, who holds and Ecocentric world view.
” We have got to share this planet with the other living creatures, and sharing means not merely preserving them in zoos or National Parks, but setting aside huge areas. Whole regions perhaps that will be free from human interference ( too bad Catron County ruralites). Ideally, I would like to see certain areas of the planet set-off-limits to human entry of any kind, even aerial over-flights.”
Too bad, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, parts of California. The rural areas of these states according to Agenda 21, and the Wilding project must be deleted, gone, erased, no longer there. Did I mention Alaska ? Better get ready to move WOLFIE cause this stupid program you support includes erasing your place you have chosen to exist in as well. MAYBE YOU WANNA GET EDUCATED YOUR SELF. Maybe you should learn to recognize the ENEMY of America.
